James Whale Fund Renal Nurse training course receives rave reviews

Over 1,200 nurses have enrolled on the renal nurse online training course that was launched by the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer in September 2010.

The response from the nurses has been very encouraging. Some typical comments are shown below:

"I have found this course extremely valuable in enhancing my knowledge in relation to renal cancer. I work on a urology ward and I frequently care for patients who have undergone laparoscopic nephrectomy. I have limited experience of other types of treatment related to renal cancer especially drug therapy. I now feel more confident in providing the support that my patients require."

"This free resource has helped me understand better my clients options. Very enjoyable learning experience."

"I found this course very comprehensive and it has opened up more avenues for me to investigate further, I now feel that I have a much better understanding of renal cancer and the treatment options available. "

"The tests were good but there could have been more of a mixture between written boxes and multi choice, but it was good."

"Excellent material and some of the links were new to me and I will be using them. The pt video was amazing and it was lovely to see a pt at home rather than in a clinical setting and appreciate life. Would highly recommend."

"I do not usually look after renal cancer patients, but recently I have been looking after a patient with lung cancer and his wife was diagnosed with renal cancer about the same time as he was. I have wondered about her treatment, which is at another hospital and her treatment has been unsuccessful. This course has given me an insight into renal cancer and also the treatments availble for this cancer and therefore has informed my practice."

"Gave me more understanding of the diseae and treatments."
