The Fund's first fundraising archery golf tournament will be in Wales on Sunday 19 September.
James Whale, broadcaster and avid archer, hales from Porthcawl. It was his idea to hold an archery golf tournament in his mother town of Porthcawl to raise awareness of the Fund through this new and exciting fundraising event. James will be competing in the tournament himself.
The Grove Golf Club Porthcawl have offered their support for our first Archery Golf Tournament which we hope will become an annual event.
With the help of experienced long bowsman, Graham Anderson, we have put together a safe and fun tournament which will consist of no more than 50 archers roving the 18 hole golf course to compete for the title of 'Tournament Winner'.
All archers will go round together and will each shoot three arrows per hole. Points for each hole are recorded. The archer with the most points at the end of the tournament will win and there will be prizes for the two runners up.
The agenda for the day is as follows:
1.00pm Arrival at the Golf Club, tea & coffee served and rules provided to the tournament
2.00pm Tournament starts
5.00pm Tournament ends
6.00pm Presentation meal and raffle/auction
8.00pm Close
The entry fee is £20 per person and includes entry to the tournament, tea/coffee on arrival, and a curry meal after the tournament.
