Launch of Britain's Biggest Curry Party

James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer will join forces with Food Scientist Kumud Gandhi to host the launch of Britain’s Biggest Curry Party, ahead of the event which will take place in October.

The launch will take place at Mehek’s restaurant at London Wall and is set to host a great array of celebrities and media, including BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing’s Camilla Dallerup and Bollywood actress, Shaana Diya. The launch also provides a complimentary lunch, courtesy of the fine cuisine at Mehek’s, and a performance from Bollywood dancers.

James Whale himself will be joined by food nutritionist, Kumud Gandhi, founder of the Cooking Academy and catering company, Saffron House. Kumud specializes in healthy Asian-infused cuisine which offers a healthy take on traditional Indian food.

Kumud said:

This is a wonderful initiative to raise money for a fantastic cause. Today’s event will provide the perfect introduction and launch pad for Britain’s Biggest Curry Party in October. Curry and other Indian cuisine should continue to be embraced and what better way to showcase this than through a curry party!

The James Whale Fund is encouraging everyone to join in Britain’s Biggest Curry Party in October, by hosting or attending a curry party in aid of the fund. By registering on the site, you’ll receive a package of spices, a quiz and some tasty recipes to help you make your party a huge success. Host your party at home, at your local pub or even your town hall. Hosts will charge their guests an entrance fee and all funds will be donated to the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer.

The James Whale Fund is the UK’s leading kidney cancer charity and was set up in 2006 by broadcaster James Whale who lost a kidney to cancer. Today James continues to lead a full and busy life, as do the majority of people who are diagnosed and treated early.

James said:

I’m proud to be a part of Thursday’s launch which will no doubt serve to create greater awareness towards Kidney Cancer and people affected by it.

Every year almost 7,000 people in the UK learn that they have kidney cancer; that’s over 16 people a day. And yet the condition – the eighth most common cancer among men – rarely attracts much public attention. Our mission at the James Whale Fund is to try and change that Britain’s Biggest Curry Party:
