James Whale, Founder & Chairman of the UK's leading klidney cancer charity welcomes The Kidney Cancer Association to British shores!

The James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer is pleased to welcome The Kidney Cancer Association to London where they will be holding a Patient Survivor Seminar on Thursday 6 May 2010.

Since its conception in 2006, the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer has been a very active body raising the profile of a disease that affects approximately 7,000 people a year in the UK alone. It is the eighth most common cancer among men but rarely attracts the attention it deserves. The Fund has been relentless in its pursuit to not only raise the profile but they also spend untold hours campaigning on behalf of those affected by the disease to help them get the drugs that are currently being denied by the Government.

The Patient Survivor Seminar is being held at the Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel on London's Albert Embankment. It’s open to all patients, survivors, caregivers and family members and is free to attend. According to James Whale, a kidney cancer survivor and chairman and founder of the Fund “we are really happy that the Kidney Cancer Association has decided to hold a seminar here in London. The Association has garnered tremendous support in the US and we hope their presence here in the UK helps raise further awareness. It’s important for us to work together as we share a common goal. My team and I will be making every effort to support the day.”

About The Fund: The James Whale Fund is the UK’s leading kidney cancer charity and was set up by broadcaster James Whale who lost a kidney to cancer in 2000. Today James continues to lead a full and busy life, as do the majority of people providing they are diagnosed and treated early. Every year almost 7000 people in the UK learn that they have kidney cancer; that is over 16 people a day. And yet the condition – the eighth most common cancer among men – rarely attracts much public attention. Our mission at the James Whale Fund is to try and change that.
