James Whale 'on a promise' from 10 Downing Street to meet and discuss kidney cancer concerns.

James Whale, founder of the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer was pleased to meet the Secretary of State for Health, Andy Burnham at a special reception aimed at celebrating Britain’s progress towards beating cancer. It was held at 10 Downing Street on 23 March and James collared Andy Burnham about the different issues affecting kidney cancer patients.

During the meeting James extracted a promise from Andy that if Labour won the upcoming election, they would put a date in the diary to discuss some important issues.

The James Whale Fund believes that this is a step in the right direction. Recently NICE made a prelim decision against a proven second line treatment in the fight against kidney cancer. There are many people in the UK who are unable to acquire the very drugs that could provide them with years of quality living due to NICE decision.
