James Whale lashes out at NHS surplus

James Whale, Chairman of the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer today lashed out at the news that the NHS will have a surplus budget of close to £1.7bn.

He said: “This is an utter disgrace. Not the fact that they have managed to amass a money-mountain of such biblical proportions, but that they did not budget correctly in the first place.

They have been pleading poverty throughout the last year, denying, sick and dying kidney cancer patients' drugs, treatment and support; all the while they actually did have the money to save lives and make a difference.

This beggars belief and, in a week of sensations about MPs' expenses, this further cements the disgraceful attitude of the powers we trust to look after our well being and health.

I call for the resignation of Minister of State for Health Services, Ben Bradshaw. He is the one who monitors the purse stings of the NHS and it is he who should be removed.”
