Paul Popham Charity Night

James Whale Fund
Grand Charity Night
4th March 2009, Cwmfelin Social Club, Swansea
The Charity Night was full of fun and laughter while raising money for the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer.
Dad, Paul Popham was diagnosed with kidney cancer in October 2008, we had a battle on our hands to get the treatment he needed and with the support of our friends, The Community of Swansea, Rose Woodward and The James Whale Fund Dad finally got the treatment in January 2009.
During the campaign My Friends, Dads friends and Karl Morgan wanted to put on a charity night to fund the treatment for him but Dad did not want that at all. So when Dad finally had the treatment I could not think of a better way to celebrate and to thank all those that supported us than to put on a charity night and raise money for The James Whale Fund.
The night was absolutely fantastic, when I asked Karl Morgan to put on the entertainment he not only said yes but organised the entertainment for the evening. He asked Helen Enser Morgan from Swansea Bay Radio to come on first who sang and joked with the crowd to get us all going, Bruce Anderson followed with a beautiful classical set which was followed by Mike the comedian he had us all roaring with laughter. The auction and raffle broke the evening up with prices from the Sterophonics, Millennium Stadium, Ospreys, Machynys Golf Club, Morriston Golf Club, Local Restaurants and many more we managed to raise a lot of cash!
Finally the man we were all waiting for came on, Karl Morgan what a performance he is truly a professional and should go far Dad and I had our first dance and Karl had us all in tears with his rendition of ‘We Get By With A little Help From Our Friends’! The night went on with performances by Jimi Webb and Aspen closed the evening with covers of Beyonce.
I can honestly say that the night was a fabulous ending to a horrendous battle! We cannot thank everyone enough.
