Countrywide announce James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer as Staff Charity

The nominations for the Countrywide (CW) Staff Charity of the Year 2008 have been reviewed and CW is delighted to announce that the successful nomination was submitted by David Asquith, Energy General Manager, to raise money for Cancer Research and the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer. A project group, headed up by David, will organize activities and events to take place over the next 12 months to fund raise for these two charities.

David Asquith commented “I am delighted the judges accepted my nomination for the staff charity, cancer affects so many people. During my time at Countrywide I have seen a number of colleagues and their families deeply affected by the disease; including myself and my family. I am sure most people will be aware of the work of Cancer Research, but the James Whale Fund may not be so widely recognised”.

David continues “the project group held our first meeting in March where we brainstormed fundraising ideas, coming up with a list of about 20 ideas! This was followed by our first event arranged by Lee Collett, a car boot sale, which made a solid profit to kick start our campaign. Since then we have organised an auction at our Group annual conference, a charity walk over the Malvern Hills and a walk across hot coals! Meetings will now take place on a monthly basis to continue this great start”.
