In July 2009 it was awarded a 4 Star rating and a high 'readablity' score by the prestigious "Directory of Information Materials for People Affected by Cancer 2009/10" published by Macmillian Cancer Support. The Directory reviews 1,129 booklets, leaflets, audiovisual materials and websites.

Referral Guidelines for Suspected Cancer (260KB)
The booklet provides an overview of the guidance issued by NICE to the NHS in England and Wales .The booklet, published in June 2005, is divided into three sections.
The first section covers the support and information needs of people being referred and general recommendations on diagnosis.
The second section lists the symptoms of over 20 different cancers, together with referral recommendations.
The final section covers the referral of children and young people with suspected cancer and includes leukaemia, lymphomas, brain and central nervous system cancer, neuroblastoma, Wilms’ tumour, soft tissues and bone sarcomas and retinoblastoma.
