Nick Turkentine Chief Operating Officer

After a successful career in sales and marketing in the motor industry, Nick entered the charity sector in the late 1980s. After nine years working for a national kidney charity, he responded to James Whale’s challenge to set up this charity in 2006.


Nikki Grant BSc (Hons) FCCA Finance

Nikki is a qualified certified accountant with 15 years experience in accounting, from basic bookkeeping to company accountant. She currently runs her own business doing monthly management accounts for organisations and companies in a variety of market sectors.


Sarah Ridge Project & Events Development Officer

Sarah joined the Fund in September 2008 after taking a five year career break to spend time with her son. Sarah brings to the Fund a wealth of commercial experience both in administration and in retail having worked for number of years for a major high street retailer, a specialist finishing product manufacturer and latterly, before her career break a major high street bank.


Sharon Deveson Kell PhD MBA Corporate and Trust Funding

Sharon has over 15 years pharmaceutical industry experience, and has held a variety of roles in drug development, marketing and general management. She has project managed global clinical trials of new chemical entities (NCEs) and biologics for the treatment of chronic diseases, such as asthma, Alzheimer's disease and glaucoma, and has a good understanding of the drug development process.


Joanne Popham Community Development Officer Wales

Joanne joined the Fund in May 2009 to develop awareness of our aims to kidney cancer patients and the community in Wales. Her background was in the recruitment sector, more recently running her own company. Throughout this time she was involved in various charity events and undertook volunteering work.

In October 2008 Joanne's father was diagnosed with kidney cancer and at that point everything changed for her. During her family's campaign to help her father, she realised she wanted to work with a charity that she could feel proud to be part of and help. She contacted the Fund and explained her situation and what she wanted to do. Jo is our voice in Wales.
